Runner-Up, Using Data & AI for Real-World Impact (Mar 2026)
Problem: Across Georgia's Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) community, data exists across education, workforce, and program systems, but it is fragmented and difficult to act on. This limits the ability of policymakers, nonprofits, and employers to answer critical questions: Where is risk concentrated? Where does the system break? What interventions actually work?
Approach: We consolidated multiple data sources (ACS PUMS, RSA-911, CDC EHDI, Live Census API) into a unified system using data integration and lightweight AI-driven logic. This allowed us to identify geographic risk clusters, analyze pipeline breakdowns from education to employment, and prioritize interventions based on impact and ROI. Key insight: support works early but breaks at transition points, especially into the workforce.
Solution: We built an interactive dashboard enabling stakeholders to identify high-risk counties, compare program effectiveness, prioritize high-impact interventions, and track outcomes over time: turning fragmented data into a single actionable decision system.
