Problem: Manual receipt processing is slow, error-prone, and consumes significant finance team bandwidth. Organizations need a scalable way to extract data from receipts, validate it against business rules, and route exceptions for human review without creating a downstream bottleneck.
Solution: The Smart Receipt Checker is an end-to-end receipt ingestion and validation platform. Users upload receipts; AI-powered OCR extracts transaction details; rule-based checks flag anomalies, duplicates, and missing fields; low-confidence or exception cases route to a human-in-the-loop review queue for final verification.
What We Built: Built the entire application on Lovable: a clean upload interface with drag-and-drop, receipt status tracking dashboard, validation results view with highlighted discrepancies, and a review queue for exception handling. The architecture separates ingestion, extraction, validation, and review into discrete stages that can be monitored and audited independently.
Why It Matters: The platform demonstrates how AI and workflow orchestration can streamline document-processing operations while maintaining human oversight where it counts. It improves accuracy, scalability, and operational efficiency for finance and reimbursement processes without removing the human from critical decisions.
